Proposed Europol Regulation

Debate on Monday, 15 July 2013, in the House of Commons, led by James Brokenshire. The answering member was Lord Hanson of Flint.
Motion that this House takes note of European Union Document No. 8229/13 and Addenda 1 to 6, a draft Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation and Training (Europol) and repealing Decisions 2009/371/JHA and 2005/681/JHA; and agrees with the Government that the UK should opt into the Regulation post-adoption, provided that Europol is not given the power to direct national law enforcement agencies to initiate investigations or share data that conflicts with national security. Amendment negatived on division (232 to 336). Main question agreed to.
