Recall of MPs Bill

Proceeding contribution from Baroness Bray of Coln (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 21 October 2014. It occurred during Debate on bills on Recall of MPs Bill.

Does my hon. Friend not agree that recall is not about licensing vexatious attempts to unseat MPs? Frankly, the public would see through that, particularly if it was frequent and clearly about political and personal grudges. There would be checks and balances in the process, and

we can trust the public to see through such attempts. Surely recall is about empowering our constituents to ensure that they do not feel let down and failed by their local Member of Parliament.
