Finance Bill

Proceeding contribution from Andrew Gwynne (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 1 July 2013. It occurred during Debate on bills on Finance Bill.

My hon. Friend is being incredibly generous in giving way. She is right to emphasise the impact on low-income families, but the tax changes are also hitting moderate and middle-income families. She will be aware that the measures involve lowering the

higher rate tax threshold to £41,450. Why is it that those on the lowest incomes and middle incomes are being clobbered, whereas those on the highest incomes are getting a tax cut?
