Welfare Reform Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Freud (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 13 October 2011. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Welfare Reform Bill.
CPI currently has a much lower measure for housing. I will respond to her question—which I was about to come to—about the proportion. There will be roughly 8.8 million households on universal credit. Currently roughly 5 million households are on housing benefit. That is the proportion. However, I think it is probably safer for me to write to the noble Lady with precise figures, to allow her to do her own sums in this area.
