That is an interesting point. Clause 4(1) states: "““Where the date of the poll for one or more of the following is the same as the date of the poll for the referendum, the polls are to be taken together””." That refers to, "““a local authority election in England … a local referendum in England … a mayoral election in England””." What the noble and learned Lord has said in relation to that is right; that is, if they are on the same day, they can all take place in the same polling station. However, Clause 4(2) to (4) appear to be different. They state that it is compulsory for the polls to be taken together, so they have to be on the same day.
