Child Poverty Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Freud (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 27 January 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Child Poverty Bill.
I thank the Minister for that response, which of course disappoints me. As I said in the last discussion, the purpose is not to allow distortions to develop, but it seems on the surface, given the figures that we have, that we already have significant distortions among the poor, probably because of the child poverty targets and the attempts to get as close to reaching them as possible. I do not understand where the protection from the continuation of that invidious process of distortion would be if it was not here. Therefore, I am disappointed that this has had such short shrift from the Minister. I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment 36 withdrawn.
