Welfare Reform Bill

I thank my noble friend the Minister for that response and noble Lords for contributing to the debate. As my noble friend rightly said, we have in a sense unified the Committee, because everybody agrees that what is proposed by the Royal British Legion ought at least to be tried in order to get as many people as possible claiming their entitlement. My noble friend is unfortunately not prepared so far as I can see to accept the amendment at this point, but I shall certainly press it on Report if there is no movement in the direction of accepting it. I hope that he understands that, because there is widespread agreement with it. We really ought to try it, even though there may be some problems for local authorities to sort out.
