I have just received a letter from a mother who is on income support and has an 11 month-old son. She writes: ""I am being forced to attend a compulsory work-focused group information session with up to 15 other single mothers this Friday morning at 9.45. If I don’t go, I face losing my benefits"."
Later, she writes that, in order to cope with her domestic duties, she tried to call the agency to change the session, but it refused.
