My Lords, noble Lords may find this helpful. The noble Lord, Lord Jay of Ewelme, gave evidence to a pre-appointment hearing before the Public Administration Select Committee, on 22 July. Speaking about new appointees, he said: "““As I understand, they should pay UK taxes””."
He continued: "““I think anybody who is appointed to the House of Lords should be paying taxes in this country and, in addition, should be playing an active part in the House of Lords””."
