Finance Bill

Proceeding contribution from David Leslie Taylor (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 1 July 2008. It occurred during Debate on bills on Finance Bill.
My hon. Friend and I are both regulars at Treasury questions, and we often express such sentiments and point to the fact that if taxation evasion and avoidance in the UK economy were more effectively tackled, it would produce a stream of revenue that would resolve some of our problems in respect of council housing, free accommodation for those in social care and so on. However, Mr, Deputy Speaker, I sense that you want me to return to the track and not to be seduced by the pretty scene that my hon. Friend paints for me.
