Treaty of Lisbon (No. 8)

Proceeding contribution from Peter Ainsworth (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 27 February 2008. It occurred during Debates on treaty on Treaty of Lisbon (No. 8).
I am sorry that Labour Members appear to be confused by the amendment, as it is very straightforward. I am also sorry that the Secretary of State says that the amendment would also remove reference to climate change from the Lisbon treaty. It would do nothing of the kind. The point made by the Opposition's amendment is that"““the Government's priority on climate change in the European context should not be institutional change but the strengthening of measures to drive down greenhouse gas emissions””—" there should be actions, not words.
