No doubt there are rogues and scoundrels, lazy people and good ones in the House of Lords, but a couple of hundred Members there charge the electorate very little for doing a damn good job. We should leave them alone. This Chamber is the most supine lower House in the western world, the one most under the thumb of the Executive.
