Energy Saving (Daylight) Bill

Proceeding contribution from Greg Hands (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Friday, 26 January 2007. It occurred during Debate on bills on Energy Saving (Daylight) Bill.
I thank the hon. Gentleman for giving way again. Often, the SNP cites examples of other small European countries that operate independently in the EU or in a larger union; Estonia and some of the Baltic states have been mentioned. Does not the hon. Gentleman agree that over the past 15 years the Baltic states have benefited enormously from being able to set their own time zone, free of another time zone—that pertaining in Moscow? If the SNP is in favour of independence for Scotland, does not he agree that it would make perfect sense for Scotland to have the right to set its own time zone?
