That is anachronistic and unrealistic. The hon. Member for Newark has said that the commanding officer is ““God”” in the eyes of the private. Is that not an unrealistic burden to place on the shoulders of the commanding officer? In this day and age, is it right that such relationships are illegitimate and unproductive, unless they are conducted between a God and a private soldier?
