Single Payment Scheme

Proceeding contribution from Geoffrey Cox (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 29 March 2006. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Single Payment Scheme.
I, too, declare an interest as a receiver of payments. Does my hon. Friend agree that there is a crucial question for the Minister to answer regarding the massive incidence of inaccurate statements of entitlement? We are coming to the period when we need to start filling out forms and making applications for 2006, and I want to know whether farmers will be penalised for those inaccuracies in 2006, in the way in which my hon. Friend describes. Will the Minister give an assurance today that they will not, and that the inaccuracies inherent in the statements that they have been receiving will not be held against them in 2006?
