These are important amendments and I look forward to the Minister’s response. For the sake of completeness, I should mention that an amendment tabled in my name is in this group, Amendment No. 64. It amends the circumstances which identify the premises under Clause 6(4)(b) which at the moment states:"““enter and search premises on which a person conducts or is alleged to conduct regulated claims management business””."
In Amendment No. 64, I have suggested that this should read,"““from which a person provides or is alleged to provide claims management services””."
I am aware that there is a great deal of concern that people may want to get round some of these provisions by going offshore or elsewhere. I wanted to tighten the wording, but it is a minor amendment compared with the serious points raised by the noble Lord, Lord Goodhart. The Committee awaits a response to them from Minister.
