Childcare Bill

Proceeding contribution from Baroness May of Maidenhead (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 28 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bills on Childcare Bill.
I am going to make some progress. Babies develop at their own pace and learn to walk, talk and understand their surroundings at their own pace. That is what nature dictates. Children grow at their own pace and it is wrong to tell parents that anything other than that is expected. As Deborah Lawson, chairman of the Professional Association of Nursery Nurses, has said:"““One child might not learn to walk until 14 months, while another walks at 10 months. So it will be very difficult to have a curriculum that matches all children’s needs.””"
