Commons Bill [HL]

Proceeding contribution from Lord Inglewood (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Wednesday, 9 November 2005. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Commons Bill [HL].
I have some sympathy with the predicament of the noble Lord, Lord Williams, and his neighbours. Is not the problem that, so long as motor vehicles on the common do not directly affect commoners’ exercise of their common rights, they have no standing vis-à-vis this—let us use a neutral word—““invasion”” by others from outside? Given the world in which we are now living, it must be asked whether it is in the best interests of all concerned that that state of affairs and relationship should continue.
