The noble Lord, Lord Williams, makes an important point. I want to focus on the word ““vegetation””. The agricultural activities associated with vegetation mean that a balance must be struck in its management. That is different from what is currently in the Bill. The provision also impinges on the issues mentioned by the noble Earl, Lord Peel, when achieving the right level of management in certain circumstances. I trust that we will secure a balance which will not go against agricultural interests, or overrule them, and that we reach a broad consensus on how the best vegetation management is secured in certain circumstances.
