15: Clause 1, page 2, line 31, at end insert—

“(2A) Financial assistance under subsections (1) and (2) may only be given to—

(a) persons who are involved in the production of products deriving from an agricultural or horticultural or forestry activity, including recognised producer organisations, associations of recognised producer organisations and recognised interbranch organisations as established in Part 6 or as recognised under the CMO Regulation on the day this section comes into force; or

(b) those with an interest in agricultural land, where the financial assistance relates directly to that land.”

Member’s explanatory statement

This amendment ensures that financial assistance under the Bill is provided only in relation to farmers, including those operating through POs, APOs and IBOs, agricultural/horticultural/forestry activity and/or agricultural land.
