Defamation Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Faulks (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Monday, 17 December 2012. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Defamation Bill.

Before the Minister finally sits down, I hope that I may ask him one further thing. This is something which I think arose out of Second Reading,

and is consistent with what the noble Lord, Lord Triesman, said about trying to minimise expenditure: that is, the possibility of having these defamation actions heard in the county court as opposed to the High Court, which would automatically reduce the cost.
