The following is an extract from the Fourth sitting of the Data Protection and Digital Information (No. 2) Public Bill Committee.

I was saying that the exemption applies where the data originally collected is historic, where to re-contact to obtain consent would require a disproportionate effort, and where that data could be of real value in scientific research.

An error has been identified in my response to the debate on clause 9.

The correct information should have been:
