Business of the House

Proceeding contribution from Jacob Rees-Mogg (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 22 July 2021. It occurred during Business statement on Business of the House.

May I reiterate the sympathy that everyone in this House feels for people whose homes are flooded? Even a year later, people are probably still suffering from the effects of that, and it is the disruption, the loss of treasured possessions and all that goes with flooding that makes it so difficult for people and their families. The Government take climate change more seriously than I think any predecessor Government—we are the first major economy to commit to net zero and have continued ambitious climate change targets. We also recognise that the way to deal with this is through

technology that will improve people’s standards of living, and to ensure that the technology is there so that people can do more, but cleaner.
