Grouse Shooting

Proceeding contribution from Kevin Hollinrake (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 21 June 2021. It occurred during e-petition debate on Grouse Shooting.

My hon. Friend is making a very good point. Lots of people think that woodland is a habitat for lots of wildlife, but that is not always the case. Coniferous woodland is almost

devoid of wildlife. People point to the reforestation or forestation of these areas, but that actually increases the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by four to six times per hectare, compared with moorland.
