Business of the House

Business question from Jo Swinson (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 22 February 2018. It occurred during Business statement on Business of the House.

Last year, a 13-year-old boy with a dairy allergy died after allegedly having cheese forced on him at school. Next month, children at the cinema will watch the much-loved character Peter Rabbit forcing a child to undergo an anaphylactic reaction, which can be fatal. Sony has apologised but has refused to cut the scene, and the film certificate classifies the film as having mild threat and comic violence. Food allergy is no laughing matter; it can be

life or death. Can we have a debate on the bullying of children with allergies, which is clearly not taken seriously enough?
