Question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to the Note 7.3 of the Whole of Government Accounts: year ended 31 March 2011, if he will provide an update on the latest figures providing the average number of full-time equivalent persons employed in (a) the public sector and (b) central government and associated agencies; and if he will provide an updated estimate of annual consolidated staff costs.

Answer

The Whole of Government Accounts for year ended 31 March 2011 was published on 31 October 2012. The Treasury are working towards publishing the Whole of Government Accounts for year ended 31 March 2012 before summer recess 2013. This will include the latest figures for full-time equivalent persons employed in the public sector with a split to show central Government separately. It will also provide the latest actual consolidated staff costs.
