Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what assessment he has made of the potential effect of the authorisation of mitochondrial transfer techniques on the incidence of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome; and if he will make a statement.

Answer

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority has advised that if mitochondria donation was permitted in treatment it is not anticipated that this will impact on the incidence of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome.
