The Renters’ Rights Bill [HL] is a private member’s bill introduced by Baroness Grender (Liberal Democrat). The Bill received its first reading on 23 May 2016, and is scheduled to have its second reading on 10 June 2016. The Bill contains five clauses focused on renters’ rights, including proposals to ban certain fees that are charged to renters (such as registration fees, reference check fees and administration fees) and proposed measures to increase renters’ protection from “rogue landlords”.
