High-Speed Rail

Proceeding contribution from Lord Walney (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 2 November 2011. It occurred during Adjournment debate on High-Speed Rail.
If the hon. Gentleman says so, that is fine. How he will get on with his colleagues after today I do not know, but whenever he puts forward sensible proposals, we will work constructively with him to further shared objectives, if he is willing to do so. The hon. Gentleman made some important points about the northern hub, but Opposition Members believe that it is important to guard against letting the Government off and facilitating them by easing up on lobbying about delivering the project in parts and effectively leaving sections of the northern hub on the shelf.
