I read from a Library briefing:"““In its Budget in March 1993 the Conservative Government introduced a 'road fuel escalator'—a commitment to increase duty rates on these fuels in real terms by a specified percentage each year””." I accept that that was continued for a number of years by the Labour Government before being abandoned, but the Minister should not say that the public do not forget things and then gloss over the fact that it was a Conservative Government who brought in the fuel price escalator.
