Let me complete this point, then I will give way to my hon. Friend the Member for Basildon and Billericay (Mr Baron). On the point of allowing the independent sector to be a provider to the NHS, I should say that it was the right hon. Member for Leigh (Andy Burnham), the shadow Secretary of State's predecessor, who said that"““the private sector puts its capacity into the NHS for the benefit of NHS patients, which I think most people in this country would celebrate.””—[Official Report, 15 May 2007; Vol. 460, c. 250WH.]"
Well, Labour Members are not celebrating it now; they have reverted to type.
