Sustainable Livestock Bill

Proceeding contribution from William Bain (Labour) in the House of Commons on Friday, 12 November 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills on Sustainable Livestock Bill.
The key point for the hon. Gentleman to consider is that the Bill would not introduce any order-making power that affected the agriculture industry. It would create a duty on the Secretary of State to have a balanced strategy that took on the points made by the National Farmers Union and Friends of the Earth, and it would allow the Secretary of State to calibrate a balanced policy for which she will be accountable to this House.
