Capital Gains Tax (Rates)

Proceeding contribution from Iain Duncan Smith (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Monday, 28 June 2010. It occurred during Budget debate on Budget Debate.
I thank my hon. Friend for that example. We have put £2 billion into the child tax credit because we believe that that is a far better way of helping poorer parents. The grant is rather indicative of the way in which the previous Government scattered money around in the hope that they would buy some votes in the run-up to the election although, as was demonstrated, that failed.
