Child Poverty Bill

Proceeding contribution from Baroness Hollis of Heigham (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 9 March 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills on Child Poverty Bill.
I did not say and would never say that benefits should be kept artificially low for single people in order to drive them in desperation into work. I am saying that the more appropriate strategy is to encourage them into the labour market.
