Marine Navigation Aids Bill [HL]

Proceeding contribution from Lord Berkeley (Labour) in the House of Lords on Friday, 5 February 2010. It occurred during Debate on bills on Marine Navigation Aids Bill [HL].
That is a very good response; we can look at that again. I take the noble Earl’s point. As my noble friend Lord Faulkner said, there are many issues that should be looked at, including how payments are made. All the other issues could be discussed at a future stage—if we get there. I will conclude by addressing my noble friend’s final comments about the joint statement between the Republic and the UK regarding their willingness and intention to come up with a solution to what we have all been calling the Irish question. This is very welcome. I am grateful to him and his colleagues for doing this. Noble Lords have made many comments in this debate and I am grateful to them all for participating. There is a lot to reflect on. Bill read a second time and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
