Can my hon. Friend enlighten the House a little about the debate in the other place? The Minister there said that""our intention is to designate marine conservation zones for conservation purposes and not for fisheries management."—[Official Report, House of Lords, 15 December 2008; Vol. 706, c. 727.]"
Given that indiscriminate fishing does so much damage to the marine environment, is that statement not a bit of an illogicality? Are the Government trying to avoid a collision between the Bill and the common fisheries policy?
