The Economy

Proceeding contribution from Andrew Love (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 31 March 2009. It occurred during Debate on The Economy.
Before the hon. Gentleman moves on from the asset protection scheme, what alternative to it does he believe exists? I understand some of the criticisms that have been made of the scheme, but how else can we deal with the problem of bad assets on banks' books? The public-private scheme that the US Federal Reserve and Treasury Secretary have produced has been roundly condemned, but what alternatives are there?
