My Lords, as the Minister for broadcasting and communications, I share my noble friend’s view that it is the highest calling. I remember the slight reluctance in my parents’ household when I gave up a career in the law to pursue one in the media. I only managed to persuade them that it was a good decision when I finally gained entry to this House. However, I certainly share his view about the quality of the calling.
