Banking Bill

Proceeding contribution from Ian Pearson (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 26 November 2008. It occurred during Debate on bills on Banking Bill.
I fully understand the hon. Gentleman's wider point. He is suggesting that some depositors might have put their money in a branch of an Icelandic bank, for example, without actually knowing how that savings account was regulated. I agree with the hon. Gentleman that there is a clear need to make sure that branches of banks owned outside the United Kingdom make the basis on which they are regulated clear.
