Immigration Controls

Proceeding contribution from Damian Green (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 21 October 2008. It occurred during Opposition day on Immigration Controls.
There will be no automatic right. The Minister told the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, South-West (Rob Marris) that he wants to preserve the rights of foreign spouses of British nationals, even if they have been here for five years. So when he says there is no automatic right, he means that there is no automatic right unless someone is married. That is the first exception, and there will be others as well. He should stop deceiving his right hon. Friend.
