Council Tax

Proceeding contribution from John Healey (Labour) in the House of Commons on Wednesday, 9 July 2008. It occurred during Legislative debate on Council Tax.
That is an important question; it is the question that many people in Lincolnshire will ask. The answer is £69.56. People are not prepared to accept excuses for high council tax increases, either this year or in future; nor are the Government. I put all authorities on notice that we will not tolerate excessive increases in future years and that we are prepared to use our capping powers to protect council tax payers. I commend the order to the House.
