Helmand Province

Proceeding contribution from Julian Brazier (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 17 June 2008. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Helmand Province.
My hon. Friend is making a compelling case. Does he agree that there is a sad degree of repetition in this debate? Just a few years ago, when we had the debates on the invasion of Iraq, we were repeatedly assured that DFID would be there, just behind the armed forces, and that reconstruction would take place in Iraq. Is not it sad to hear exactly the same story about what is taking place in another country a few years later?
