I just want to let the hon. Gentleman know that he has my support at least for one small detail of the Bill. I and most of my hon. Friends would entirely support it if it consisted only of clause 1(1):"““The next general election shall take place on 7th May 2009.””"
We think that that day—if not sooner—would be an excellent date.
