Treaty of Lisbon (No. 7)

Proceeding contribution from Patricia Hewitt (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 26 February 2008. It occurred during Debates on treaty on Treaty of Lisbon (No. 7).
Will my hon. Friend confirm that the treaty protocol on the role of national Parliaments explicitly spells out that"““the way in which national Parliaments scrutinise their governments in relation to the activities of the European Union is a matter for the particular constitutional organisation and practice of each Member State””?" Of course that must be the case, and it is clearly recognised in the treaty. Will he confirm that?
