European Union (Amendment) Bill

The hon. Gentleman argues that we need to do more to ensure the eradication of poverty. The treaty states:"““Union development cooperation policy shall have as its primary objective the reduction and, in the long term, the eradication of poverty.””" Why is he supporting a group of amendments that include the deletion of that proposed policy from the treaty?
