This year's budget deficit is already £44 billion, inflation—not calculated according to the retail prices index—is running at 11 per cent., and every household in the country has been lumbered with a second mortgage as a result of the Northern Rock saga. Is not it time, therefore, for an urgent debate on the Government's handling of the British economy, given that every household and business is paying more in tax?
