Climate Change Bill [HL]

I thank the noble Baroness for pointing that out. I did not have reference to the other Act of Parliament that was involved; I have at least had a tutorial in it now, and I can safely withdraw those previous caveats on the amendment in that area. The Committee agrees that it is important to have some mechanism to ensure compliance to the programmes for adaptation. We are not sure that this proposal is the best way of achieving what is certainly a laudable goal, but we believe that the debate has brought out an important element of what we should seek to do.
