European Union (Amendment) Bill

Proceeding contribution from Elliot Morley (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 21 January 2008. It occurred during Debate on bills on European Union (Amendment) Bill.
I do not think it fair to say that there is nothing of benefit in this treaty. The House has heard, for example, the child protection benefits in terms of development. Most importantly, it contains big environmental improvements in terms of sustainable development and climate change. How can the Conservative party be taken seriously on the environment when it is prepared to vote against those improvements in the treaty?
