Climate Change Bill [HL]

moved Amendment No. 140A: 140A: Schedule 1, page 36, line 39, at end insert— ““Disqualification through membership of the Scottish Parliament A Member of the Scottish Parliament is disqualified from becoming a member of the Committee.”” The noble Earl said: This is a probing amendment tabled by my noble friend the Duke of Montrose, who cannot be here. My name is also added to it. It originates from the Scottish Law Society and raises an important issue. Does the Minister agree that it is important to create a committee that not only appears to be, but is, genuinely apolitical? Does he feel that it is acceptable to have politicians from whatever Administration sitting on the committee? I beg to move.
