Foot and Mouth/Bluetongue

I echo the thanks of my hon. Friends who have been so well supported by the Secretary of State's Department during the outbreak. Another case was confirmed in my constituency only this week. Is not the answer—to which the industry does not seem to be averse—to extend the bluetongue zone substantially so that there can be movement to slaughterhouses and movement of fattening stock across the country to enable the industry to survive? Bluetongue is not a crippling disease, like foot and mouth; it is a disease that we will have to accept and deal with, eventually by vaccination.
